How often should I calibrate my tools?
Tools should be calibrated at least once a year by a certified laboratory.

How often should I PM my tools?
Depending on the amount of cycles a tool is used will determine the amount of maintenance needed. An aggressive PM program will enhance a tools life. A rule of thumb is every three months.

What is a torque transducer?
A transducer is a device that produces an electrical voltage proportional to the applied torque.

What is a rotary transducer?
A rotary transducer is a portable device fitted to a socket holder of a tool, the torque is measured in the shaft joining the tool to the fastener.

What is a fixed transducer?
A fixed transducer measures torque on a non-moving part of a tool. Typically, transducers are supplied with electrical power to produce an output.

What is an analog torque-monitoring unit?
An analog monitor is the most basic type of monitoring unit. This unit can be connected to both a rotary and fixed transducer for readouts. The unit supplies power to the torque transducer to amplify and measure output with a visual display. This unit can only measure final torque that the fastener is tightened.

What is a computerized torque-monitoring unit?
This unit will monitor torque like an analog unit. It has an interface device and host computer all built into one unit. The unit can store tightening data and perform SPL calculations.

What is a torque- and angle-monitoring unit?
With the system it is possible to analyze and monitor the joint condition in detail. A tool must be set up with a torque transducer and an angle encoder, used in conjunction with a torque and angle monitor. When programming the unit, the computer defines parameters that accept a certain tightening range. The computer then checks to make sure each joint is correctly run down.

How do I do preventive maintenance on my DC tools?
Cables: Periodically check cables for damage or stress. Check the pin alignment for proper connections. Angle Head: After each 24 hours of operation inject 1-2 cc of grease in the angle head housing. Gearing: After 75,000 cycles, inject 2to3 cc of grease in the gear case assembly.

How do I do preventive maintenance on my air tools?
Motor: After 24 hours of operation inject 2cc of oil into the inlet bushing. This is not needed if a oiler is used on line. Angle Head: After 24 hours of operation inject 2cc of grease into the angle head housing. Gearing: After 75,000 run downs inject 2 to 3 cc of grease into the gear casing assembly.
